This utility will completely destroy your BOOT hard drives' partition information making it just as it was when it left the manufacturer as a new drive.

How it works... Wreckdisk uses Assembly Language to reset the partition table of the computers' drive 0. It doesn't actually delete any data from the drive. Instead, it simply forces the drive to indicate to the OS that there are no partitions of any kind on the drive.

There are some fdisk utility programs that if run on a drive after using wreckdisk will "see" that there is some data out there and falsely report an existing unknown partition. However, we have not seen any OS installation processes that have a problem with this. Those fdisk utilities that do see something there will happily remove it so that you can continue creating new partitions.

Because Wreckdisk is merely changing a setting on the drive it works very quickly. Simply boot from the WreckDisk, answer Yes to the warning message, answer Yes to remove all partitions, and answer Yes to reboot the computer. The partitions are gone and you can begin installing the Operating System of your choice.

It doesn't get much easier than that. If you work with many different Operating Systems and frequently have to "wipe" an existing installation, WreckDisk will make life easier for you.
